Atreano Gold

Is anyone going to have cutting later on of this variety?

Chris

Vince,

Not the most welcoming "guy". Was real short in his replies so i did not peruse a purchase from him. Plus I want to make sure these are what are being claimed as a named variety.

Also would like to work with a F4F member who knows what they have.
That way also if I have extra rooted plant they can be sent around the group.

Chris

I don't understand where the "gold" came from.  Atreano is atreano.  I do know of one nursery by me that uses the gold but its the same exact fig as the one from belleclare called atreano

Ed didn't paradise call it atreano gold too?

Not sure but I still don't understand the reason for the name variation

Here is my Atreano Gold.

Dennis,

Looks like a nice short shrub version. Is this the pruned or natural behavior?

Chris

natural

Dennis,

From the picture the plant appears to be about either three or four years.

I was wondering about the gold myself, glad to know I don't need to be looking for another fig, I've got Atreano. I would not take a chance on anyone outside the forum, unless it is one of the established nurseries

With about 50 numbered hybrids in UCD collection, that have leaves, and fruits, similar to Atreano,I would also be careful to get Atreano, from a tree I can see the plant and see fruits from that plant and is someone trusty.
Because: they look similar but taste flavor adaptability to cold, earliness are missing from the hybrids.

Gold=sales gimmick. Like saying almost like new.

Zaino's Garden Center, Westbury, NY....(516-333-7097)... has/had original "Atreano" from Belleclare stock....so I've been told.  This nursery sells this variety, labeled: ..."ATREANO GOLD".  I bought my trees in 2007, already trained as 5-6 ft. single-stem standards...@ $49.00 each, plus discount.  The trees are sold at bearing age...no waiting for figs!  Well worth the price.

Durio Nursery/Dalton may have some treelets left in stock.  Belleclare-"Atreano Gold"...not the bogus versions from the West Coast.

EDIT:

When fully ripened to perfection, it is easy to understand the "Atreano GOLD" name.  The figs are golden-yellow, with very little green showing on the skin...maybe, a slight tinge of green around the neck and stems.  And, they are exceptional in flavor.

Mine came from Belleclare despite what everyone else believes.  :)

I got my 2 atreano trees  from Herman that i started from scion and I have to say that they are by far the best tasting white figs I have ever tried.

Vince,

I have been watching his listings now for a few weeks. Seems to have more of them every week. Seems a bit odd that he can get this many cuttings off of a fruiting tree and it still be a tree.

As expected, one listing ended today and a new one started.
