Good day, today I picked a few more figs.  I picked some Marseille VS, Martin's Unknown #17, Shar Italian, and my Atreano Gold (aka green turkey).  Below are the pics.  The sweetest was the Unknown #17.  Man on man was it rich!  A close second was my Atreano Gold followed by the MVS.  The Shar Italian wasn't sweet.  I think I picked it too late.  I can not get over how soft and sweet the Atreano Gold fig is!  My wife is my taste tester.  SHe has not tasted this fig yet.  I got 3 on the counter waiting for her to taste.  I hope she makes it home soon!

Ciao,  I just read your post, interesting and good for you getting your figs in the mouth and they are tasty.  What is a Green Turkey?   Is this a family to the brown Turkey Figs??  Just wondering, maybe I am not following the forums well.  Very busy time of year for me. Ciao Ciao

Hi Maggie, I have these 2 fig trees that I got from Home Depot 2 years ago labeled Brown Turkey.  It's been in this same containter after I repotted into a 3 gallon beige container 2 years ago.  This the first time they have fruited.  This past winter I left both trees out unprotected outside all winter. These 2 trees were placed inside my greenhouse in Spring to see if they were alive and they were.  Well, they grew very fast and was loaded with figs so I placed them on my covered deck.  Now the figs are swelling and getting ripe!  I was expecting them to turn brown but these turned light green and got soft like a ripe apricot.  So, I posted photos of the tree and the fruit and leaves on this forum last week.  The fruit is very sweet and skin is very soft.  So, Bass said I should call it Green Turkey.  So, I named it Green Turkey.  Maggie look back at my last week's post on this fig tree and tell me what you think this fig is.  I appreciated it.  Thank you!

Edit:   The Green Turkey ended up being Atreano Gold.

Jason, I don't think they are the same.  My Atreano Gold Fig has a tight eye.  I ate two more figs today.  Somemore will be ready tomorrow.  I'll post so close up photos of the fruit and leaves tomorrow.  cheers!

Who just showed us pics of a green unknown fig that looked like these?  They were on the tree, not ripe yet.  These look like them to me, which does no good because the other figs were unknown, too!

The fruit is very pretty and has no scars of marking.  It just sags, turns light green and swells when ripe.  The taste is very refreshing.  I need to give it some name for reference.  thanks!

Ciao Dennis, see what I mean,  not on much this days.  I missed that post.  I thought it was a relation or a beautiful green fig from Turkey!!  Which Martins unknown is this, the one he got from Italy ( stick from friend who brought from Emilia Romagna)  or the one he had that had a big fat trunk? I can't make out at the moment your green Turkey ! You could be right Maggie, you could be right.  I have a large Atreano growing in a container.  The leaves are different but the fruit does look the same.  On my large Atreano, I have one fig that's almost ripe.  In a few days, it will be ripe.  Here are some more pictures I took moments ago of my Atreano Gold fig.   I lived in Ankara Turkey years ago and wish I picked up a few cuttings while there.  I may go back year to visit.

Thanks for the link.  Those are not the pics I was thinking of.  Someone had pics of another unknown.  Was it Gene?  The only pic on this link that looks like the ones I'm thinking of is the second pic, with the fig being shiny, but the pic I'm thinking of showed two figs.  They had closed eyes.  But never mind.  I just thought about that other post when I saw the green figs of your post and couldn't find the post I was thinking of.

Aaa, gotcha.  Interesting that Dennis' unknown from HD was labeled the same as mine, neither Brown Turkey!

Tam, yes, the same tree.  The figs on my tree does turn yellow.  It's not Conadria.  I have several of those.
