Atreano is making extremly large fruits this year(5th).(pix)

These fruits will be easy about 4 to 5 ounces, when totally ripe in about 3 days from now.
These are main crop figs.It had Breba too but they were more elongated, with a long neck.

WOW that's an impressive fig can't wait to see the inside

Wow those are nice.Do you clip the leaves off your trees if so when do you do it?Does your plant come from an online nursery?Thank you

Wow!! The biggest fig I have seen around here is the size of a 50 cent piece.  Altreano is on my wish list.

Nice looking figs, very large, like to see 1 cut open also

Herman,do you think it may be that large because of the large amount of soil moisture that was available this Spring, and Summer?

If it did not diminish the sweetness and flavor, do you think that
Atreano would benifit from being mulched with something, to keep it's roots moist, during the growing season?

Bob

That is a beauty. I have a baby tree, so this is great to see what it could do in the future. Yours is planted in the ground? Do you protect it?

I never watered this year and it was not raining much here,in fact the rain was less than One inch for July, and started August we had 2 inches till this Date.
Did not mulch this year because at this age the tree needs nothing, except limestone powder, which I added about 2 pounds in the Spring.
Bob:Older tree needs no extra moisture here in the north east.
The fruits are so large because tree come to age,in my opinion.
Annie:The tree is in ground and I did protect it from cold last Winter.
I think it is quite hardy so next year I will only place a lot of mulch around the tree and maybe a plastic tarp over.
A fig tree in my climate is still juvenile till it is 7 years old so it need to be protected !!!!?? if it deserves.

I am excited about this variety from you (H2). It hasn't put on a ton of growth in pot but  the main crop was about 20. It was growing very quickly. After about the 6th leaf, I just kept pinching. All new figlets keep getting pinched off.

I cut down the amount of figs to 9 for several reasons- Not to stress a young tree and to put more energy into producing better tasting figs.

This will be one of the first I will experiment with in ground in 3 years.

Hi NYPD:YES you done very well.
If I was you I will leave six or less on.
They are very large so leaving a dozen doesn't apply here, because that is for small fruited cultivars.
Here are the fruits today as I was using them for breakfast.
They had the taste of Breba figs I had before, very good tasting but one notch below, what the main crop was in September and October 2010.
In any case very tasty, and I did not have any trouble eating them both skin and all.
And I am not easily to please when about fruits in General, having had ,an orchard ,when I grew up.
They both combined were 310 gram in weight, which is over 5 ounces each.
Here are pixies,taken now.
