Atreano Main Crop

Ed,

The one from Belleclare should be the real deal.

An Atreano with leaves exactly like yours (TIM),have produced this ripe Breba, that is not Bland, and is sweet and flavorfull.
It rained this Morning before I picked it,but no complain,it is super tasty for a breba, and 100+ grams.

The Main crop are a bit better in taste and flavor, and overall,it is a winner.

My Opinion:The climate up to now is not ideal for fig in your location.Any fig will be less than perfect in such Sommer.

Herman, I get what you are saying. I know it is recommended for cooler areas, but I wanted to try it. Like a lot of the others I have, I've probably made some mistakes in choosing varieties, but eventually will figure out what does best here. This fig is definitely rain tolerant. I haven't had a split or sour one yet, but if the flavor doesn't improve, I probably won't keep it. Maybe next year, I will get to taste a couple of good brebas. It had a few this year, but only the one persisted and had little flavor. This is only the 2 nd year for this fig.

That breba on yours looks delicious, I've always read that they were good. Thanks for the pictures and the advice.

Hi Herman.  You sent me a cutting earlier this Spring.  It is doing great, but sometimes my eyes are not so great.  I wrote "Adriano" on the plant tag, but do you think it was a cutting from your "Atreano" instead?  Both are great figs, but your "Atreano" looks exceptional.

Thank you my friend.

All of the cuttings are doing great.

Best wishes.

If it was written Adriana, then it was another white fig, very good for Georgia, but needs a little more heat here.
Knowing you are in Georgia I think,I sent you an extra cutting of Adriana to try.
There is also another cultivar called Adriano,a selection, by Adriano,a nursery owner in Canada, but this Adriana, come from Italy, trough Giuseppe Tozzi,a fig collector, from Northern NY.

Thank you Herman.  The fig was greatly appreciated, and I also greatly appreciate your helping me with a positive identification of this fig.  It is doing great here, and your kindness is much appreciated.

Thank you my friend.

John
