Atreano Ripe Breba pixies.

We harvested 4 Ripe Breba fruits ,today, and another ripe fruit was destroyed by catbird.
We ate one on the spot, warm as it was,and it tasted excellent,as good as a Breba can be ,in line with Desert King, Breba when properly ripe.
We placed the other three to get cold in the refrigerator, but before that I took pixies and weigh them.
It turned out they only weigh 180 grams both together, which makes one fruit to weigh 90 grams.
Last year when they were full of water ,the same fruits ,same size were weighing 140 grams, each, and tasting only good.
This year we had dry Spring and Summer, and these Breba fruits taste excellent,so no need to grow Desert King here,Atreano is the King.
Here are pixies.

I remember talking to you about this variety. Mine is not mature enough yet to produce, but I am very happy with your review.  Thanks herman.

This is a great white fig.

These figs look very good. My question to you Vasile, when would Dessert King breba crop start? That is under normal weather conditions. I'm thinking mid June?? The reason I ask is thats 3 weeks sooner?? These are all questions because my Dessert King did not produce figs yet.

Saw one today over at the celts waiting a few more days to pick it.. Dan you better get it before the weekend rains...

Hey Vasille nice photos. Is this fig main crop productive for you?I'm debating to put Atreano or Stella in ground in Michigan which do you recommend if you were to only pick one?Thank you

In Our climate Desert King started exactly in the Same time as Atreano Breba ,no more no less.
I know because I sold my 6 years old Desert King last year, and they both were ripe the same time.
Why do you think i sold my 6 years old Desert King for $ 30 ?.

Vasile, Most of the time i'm hard headed, but on this one you have made the choice very easy. As always thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Both Because Atreano and Stella are super figs, that makes ripe figs in different times.
You better protect them in Winter and make sure Stella is healthy, and free of fig mosaic virus.

Vasile....

Will a tree usually form breba only on those sections of stem that are the youngest, last year's wood, and will breba form on wood that already grew breba?

Frank

Looks great VS. Mine needs until Friday though.

Frank,:This Time I do not know what to answer:
Why: Because I was thinking about this a few times, but I have no way to find out.
It is mysterious,it appears in places that the leaves do not grow in the Spring!.

They Look Great Vasile, I have had my Atreano 2 years now no figs yet but wont be getting rid of it anytime soon. Fico Santo Calabrese has a couple brebas that should be ripe soon has same same as Atreano and very similar leaves too.

Hmm...that looks a lot like one of my mystery figs.

Thank you Vasille it sucks cause my Stella has the mosaic virus.

Well The Celt:Your Atreano must be younger.
Also have Fico Santo,it seem ,similar but it has Fig M virus.
And for that reason alone, outside that it is a different cultivar, but for the FMV alone the Breba are only 2/3rds the size of Atreano Breba.

Aaron:All Ira Condit man made hybrids(at least 30) look like Atreano, but they are just bland tasting seedlings of white fig,and far from Atreano in over all qualities, and adaptability.
I grew and observed most of them and that is the conclusion I got.
If you want Atreano do not grow look alike, get one from a serious source.

Herman2, my mystery fig is one supposedly brought over from Italy in 1921 by my wife's grandfather. It is extremely doubtful it is a Condit and I can assure you it is not bland! I am eagerly waiting for the main crop figs to ripen so I can post a couple of pictures and hopefully find out what it is. I am a relative newcomer to the fig world so to a more experienced eye mine might look nothing like Atreano.

Aaron ,it is up to you.
I also have 2 unknown from Greece and one from Italy, plus Fico Santo, but none are  better or equal to Atreano, that The Agriculture Departament of Italian Government developed.
Atreano was developed and trialed,in honesty, after eliminating thousand of seedling from trial program.
It was done to help the Farmer in Italy get ahead,by having a cultivar that will bring good profit,at the Market, while taking as little care as possible.

Well Herman your atreano Is huge. And yes mine is younger than yours. Infact yours is the mother of mine.

If My Atreano is the mother of your tree expect very good results very soon.

Atreano, Battaglia, and JH ADriatic- All so good and all extensions of Herman's collection.

Yes Dominick,Atreano,is an over all commercial ,large, type ,producing good quality figs on both crops,JH Adriatic,is an exceptional Tasting, white fig, with medium fruits, that ripe easily in our climate, and Battaglia is a late white fig with a taste just as good as JH Adriatic, but, will make medium fruits later and so extend the season, trough October, till frost.
Really this three cultivars take care of  someone that likes white figs.

Herman for sure my atreano is a great fig.
Buis isn't parideso green and bataglia the same?

Paradiso Gene and Battaglia are not the same.
Paradiso Gene makes a lot of Breba where climate permits, very good with pink interior, but the main crop ,takes a long time to get ripe.
Battaglia does not make a Breba crop, but the main crop, get ripe more easily,in my garden.
