Btw my father and I have done the same project. We bought the logs and had them cut and then rik'd them to dry.
Walnut, cherry, fiddle back maple and oak. I don't recall the board feet but I think that total it was 8000 pounds before they were dried.

We still have 20 inch wide by 1 inch thick and 18 feet long walnut boards in the basement in that $h1+ hole that is in the Midwest.

Had a maybe 800 pounds of it at one time. Very nice wood. Our lumber mill in MI always picked the frek'n coldest gawd damn day to call us and tell us they will be cutting our logs that day. We would spend all day hauling them back to the house and feeding the wood thru the 1x2' basement window marking and rik'ing them. Good grief. I hate that place.

Wood has so much character.  Northern cherry is of higher quality but because southern cherry (which is the exact same tree)  grows so fast it tends to have more character.  Here is another board I made.  I consider it a ink blot test:)  Everyone sees something different.  There are two arrows,  the lower one shows the location and the upper arrow is that same thing blown up.  Look at the portion I blew up and what do you see?

Claddagh. Look at the top ( crown), middle is the heart, and hands are holding it in place...I could be way off, though.

Hi! Dave,

Is this your butcher block? This butcher block has a tremendous negative energies. I saw dark beings licking on it and wondering around this table. This butcher block is very haunted. It gave me a slightly headache when I looked at it and I felt an extremely negative and malevolent energies coming from it. I hope this one is not your.

Best,

When I was a little kid; the walls of the room I slept in, had an uneven finish.
I used to see/imagine a lot of scarey 'things' on those walls.

Last night after looking at the butcher block posted by Dave, I had a dream:

I saw two Middle Eastern brothers.  The older brother was  20 years old and the younger one was 18 years old. Both of them had light skins. They were walking to the house belong to a 18 years old young lady. She had a darker skin than both brothers. The younger brother came close to the  young lady and talked something with her while the older brother stood about 10 feet away. Then I saw the younger brother took out a short piece of wooden stick hidden in his shirt with holes in it. He hit the young lady in the head and face. The red... came down to her face. The young lady used her hands to hit against the younger brother. When the young lady passed by the older brother then the older brother bent down and picked a bigger wooden stick which had a shape like a 2" x 4" wood. He hit once to the neck of this young lady, she felt down and died instantly. Because she did not pass way peacefully, she became a wandering spirit. The younger brother after his life took rebirth into the Hungry Ghost Realm. The older brother went directly to Hell Realm right after he passed away. After he burned his negative karma in Hell, he then took three rebirths into the Animal Realm. He got killed on that butcher block 3 times as a goat in each life. After he paid his negative karma in Animal Realm, he took rebirth into the Hungry Ghost Realm. Then I suddenly woke up and sensed a present of these restless spirits in my bedroom. I heard many of them were crying and asking for help. I then prayed the Ten-Directional Buddhas to help bring these beings into light. I heard the message in my mind saying that "YOU HAVE TO USE COMPASSION WITHIN YOURSELF TO HELP BRING THESE BEINGS TO LIGHT". This does not mean that I have to do this by myself, but we (WHOLE FIG COMMUNITIES) do together as a team to help bring these dark beings to light. This afternoon, a few of these beings came by and reminded me to help them. I told them I would try my best to bring them to light, they said thank you and went away. So, I am asking this FIG COMMUNITIES Please help these dark beings by combining our powerful minds and energies, so we can lead these dark beings to light. Thank you.

Best,
Tam

Lol.....that board is not for auction.  It was given away a couple years ago.   I am just curious what Tam can tell me about it:)   For the record I think it is complete nonsense but Tam does write in an entertaining style and curious what the reading will be.

Very pretty cutting boards.

I see a row of three diamond tiaras in the lower right - that surely must mean something, lol.
