August in Texas

Hi All,

It's the heat of summer in Texas again and I'm traveling... again.  This is the same weather that did my trees in last year.  This year, I'm growing in the ground.  My trees were watered and fed on Saturday.  I won't be back to water them again until this Saturday, then I'm gone again.

Fortunately, I got my trees into the ground late this year, so many of them still have unripe fruit on them.  It looks like they have about two weeks to go to ripen.  I'm hoping all this heat will make for great figs.

Hi James
wow thats some kind of hot weather you folks are having from my perspective anyways looking at the calendar.
Hope your trees fair better this time around for you.

Thats the Houston weather I remember so well....too bad I traded it for this Japanese weather instead(same).

Martin,

It will cool down soon.  Maybe by October the high temps will be in the upper 80s.  LOL

Last year trees were in containers... this year they're in the ground and well mulched.  The downside is the trees are north of Austin which is much dryer than Houston.  They've gone many days without water, without showing any signs of stress.  It wasn't quite this hot though.
