dkirtexas, thanks. I was hoping those fig leaves. I have been working on this dog. I am babysitting a 6 month old puppy. I whipped him with the newspaper ads, to make a lot of noise. But that has not worked out great so I have moved my plants up on a shelf he cannot reach. I also used a doggy gate to keep him out of that area. The BM has take a few weeks to leave out again but it has started.
I did notice that the little stick of a BM likes to dry soil. I am watering it less and it likes that.
I also trimmed some unknown fig branches off the side of a neighbor's fencing. It was growing through the fence and d driving them nuts. I have no idea which cultivar but I did get some of the branches to leaf in a smart pot. I keep it fairly moist but not too moist. I suppose I could use it for a hedge plant if it does not fruit.
I am not sure why the dogs love to eat the lower leaves, ones they can reach. They love those leaves.
2 More Questions:
1) The BM was bitten off below the bud on the main branch. Will my BM main branch always only be 16" tall? Has it been stunted?
2) Are there any secrets to speeding up the growth of a Fig Tree?
