Bare root fig trees

I bought my first fig tree from Willis - my Desert King. No fruit from it yet but it is growing nicely. I got it last Feb though.

Shawndturner,  you can post your image but you have to first email yourself the photos and reduce the image size in photoshop. The image needs to be one meg or less. I usually have to reduce the pictures to 10 inches or less. Hopes this helps.

Update.

I noticed that the peter's honey is putting on figs off of the new growth.  Wow!  I am shocked... I think I have a keeper with this tree.  I don't think they will mature but I will leave them to see.

My opinions on my fig trees seem to change by the week.   I gave away my Italian Everbearing last Wed.   It looked too much like the Texas Everbearing.   I couldn't tell a difference.  "What is Italian Everbearing anyway?" I thought.   You never hear anyone talking about that variety.   I gave it away to a friend here at work hoping to inspire another Fig finatic.

After reading some of the Posts on Black Jack I'm having second thoughts on the one too.  The figs are small and no where near black.  Compact habit, but they just don't fit the description of what others call a ture "Black Jack"

I'm glad folks are having success with some of their ventures, but I'm only keeping a few of my Willis trees because they are the only ones that are old enough to bear fruit.  They will be on their way out next year if they doing improve in taste over what they gave me last year.   I'm going to use them as an experiment this winter to see if the figs will survive in my attached garage.  The special ones I got from folks on this forum are going to my cool/dark basement.

My first fig of the season. My son and Wife split this with me. My son's reaction said it best. "Tastes like Plant" A little discouraging. But not giving up.  Celestial from Willis.   I know, I know, but its all I got folks.

Terrasorb is a long-lasting acrylamide polymer I don't know how it reacts with the root system but acrylamides can be pretty nasty, there used to be several advisories on the use and disposal of it.  It is used in a lot of foam type products.  Be careful.  I would clean roots very clean.
