Just bought some cutting which I'm trying to root and a bare root plant. Not sure what to do with the bare root. Do I keep it dormant or do I wake it up by potting it. I have a nice bright sunroom that it would be happy in. It is about 12" in size.

I would pot the bare root plant, and keep it dormant, if you have a cool place to keep it.
But I'm a lot farther north than you are, and really have no idea what your seasons are like.
has winter started? when does spring come? what are the tempuratures now? how many hours of sun/day do you have?

I would pot it up based on the size of the bare root plant. Small, maybe one gallon etc. I would then place it in a cool place that
is around 40-50 degrees (unheated garage etc.) In March (here) I would introduce it to full sun as the days begin to warm up.

I would encourage it to wake up and grow during the winter.
