Bareroot Plant Question

Ok I just received some bareroot plants wich I have potted up just wanted to know how soon can I put them outdoors in the sun? the plants are still dormant.

Thank You

I would give the a week in the shade. Patience would be a virtue, in my book. In my experience, it takes a little while for the roots to reconnect with the soil and get up to full function again.

Thank you Jon, I will take your advice. Good thing I asked too because I was about to put them outside in fullsun today but decided to wait until someone replied.

I find it to be better to go out in the sun as soon as you plant it, if the tree is still dormant.  I agree that it takes some time for the roots to establish themselves in the container, however a little warmth from the sun will go a long way to help.  Since the top is dormant, transpiration is at a minimum, and when the tree does break dormancy the leaves will already be acclimated to the amount of sunlight the tree gets.  Don't do this during the heat of summer though.

Ok I will put them under my dads plum tree where it will get filtered sun.

Good choice Nelson under the old oak tree with the filtered moon and sun light.

Thanks Akram, do you have extra room for a couple more plants?
