Bare-root planting instructions

Happy New Year everyone!

Now that everything is dormant I am going to bare-root a few 2 and 3 gallon pots for a friend in FL.  Anyone have an instruction sheet or link to a good video for planting a bare-rooted tree in a pot?  Thanks.

  Here you go, Danny:

Here's wishing you a prosperous New Year...   Blue

Thanks Blue.  I should have been more specific.  Looking to put the bare-rooted tree back into a pot.  I guess the same principles apply.

Going to edit the first post.

Happy New Year!

  Sorry for the confusion, Danny...

I gather then that you are looking to Heel-In the trees until transfer to Fla, and are not putting them up in semi-permanent containers.  This video covers that for you...   Blue

Danny. Here is a post from James from a while back, good videos on barerooting. I plan on following this in March when I need to change my mediums.

Thanks Matt. This is what I was looking for. Happy New Year!

Hi,
I just remember that you need a needle to untangle the roots, lay them flat and shorten them ... You just need to find someone that uses a needle for knitting... Or go buy one yourself :)
If asked, tell them that it is for the wife or an aunt ... Don't say that it is to re-pot figs :)

Thanks jds!

You need to soak it well and be brutal with a sharp knife.
