This is such a beautiful fig tree!! The eye is so different from any I have seen.  Where did you get this one? I noticed it said Bari Italy.

Kim, when i was working several year back before retirement a friend went on vacation to his home town in Italy to visit his brother they cut a few sticks and he brought back with him in a baggie with wet paper towels carried in suit pocket and gave me 1,  i cut in 2 as it has a lot of knots on it,Mine was the only to survive though. Since i last posted it dropped more fruit and only 12 or so left some turning and some still green .The stem holding them seems the weak point . Late winter i will repot in different soil other than Miracle grow soil and give it 2 more seasons if same i burn tree. I think it does have a fighting though nezt year if not any ripe ones this year. I enjoy a challenge with fig tree's in our climate Z 5

Wow! It came a long way to be your tree :) Those are the best trees, with a story- passed to you.  Im sorry to hear its no doing so hot but honestly I live in zone 7 and even my regular brown turkeys have been pitiful with this crazy season of weather so Im glad to hear your giving it a chance!  Hey, if it works out you will most probably be the only one who has one.  Its color is striking, do you know if its suppose to be a dark, light fig? A friend who comes home from a trip with a fig tree cutting for you is a great friend, haha. I would take that over a snow globe anyday!

Kim, some of those that i showed in picture turned from that color to partially a purpleish color then fell off. So it might be a dark variety. As for being the only one with it i doubt it somewhat and if it does start to produce good for me along with a good taste i will pass it around for others to enjoy as well. So time will tell one way or another, i will update if anything changes.

Hi Martin,

Nice tree, too bad about the dropping fruit.

Just curious...do you happen to know where in the province of Bari this tree originates?  My wife's grandparents were from towns of Molfetta and Giovinazzo.

I would love to have a cutting when the time is right.  I can only offer trade of Brown Turkey cuttings, since my Improved Celeste and Ital Honey are too immature.

Best regards,
Joe Grandinetti

Joe, nope i do not know, i need to call "Joe" that just happens to be his name and ask. He did tell me back then but i forget. When i find out something i post here.
