This tree lost its tag, but came from UC Davis. I am pretty sure it is Barnisotte and was really impressed with the size and taste. It has ripened about a dozen figs already but many disappeared, one was deformed, a couple were picked too soon, and raccoons did a number on a few too. I would like to confirm its identity because I am quite proud of this one. It also is unique because new growth and leaf stems have a brownish shade, as opposed to the red I see on many varieties. It seems to be suitable for zones 7 and up, if you have patience and a sheltered spot with sun all day long. The tree is 5+ years old, had a rough start but suffered no winter damage since planting out 2 years ago. I pruned and mulched heavily in winter. Thanks for looking.
