Barnisotte Black!

I wish I would find a Barnisotte Black, that is Identical to ,UCDAVIS cultivar, wich you see to the left, next to my screen name, but to have a different origine, like from Europe, etc.,so to be different only in the fact that is healthy.
Despite my best care, the UCDAVIS cultivar died in the forth year, sudden death.
But what a fruit it makes!!!!!!.
And early enough to ripe here.
Here is another pix of the specimen that it was in my Backyard!
Thanks anticipated.

Whoa,

More nice, no let me rephrase that, more Super nice Figs & pictures from Herman

Herman, I agree also. Those are not only super nice pictures, but because you are doing so much advance work for those of us trying to grow figs in the north, your input is greatly appreciated. Once again, I have to ask how cold hardy is Barnisotte compared to Marseille Black vs, on a scale of 1 to 10?  Did you have it winter protected the last four years? How does it compare to the taste of Gene's Kathleen's Black on a scale of 1 to 10? Bob

Tom:This fig Like MOst others,is having a bad case of fig Mosaic.
It can be said that somehow, one of the figs in the Ca.,Collection, had a bad strain of Fig Mosaic, and it passed it to many other cultivars in same collection.
In Ca,it looks like they are growing just fine but when subjiected to winter cold in the north east, they have a problem surviving.
To Robert:I only had it four years ,and yes I protected the best I could.
One can't find out how cold hardy it would be if it is so ill with fig Mosaic.
The fig Mosaic makes it sensitive to cold.
AS FOR THE TASTE:I can't tell you if it is better than Kathleene black, because KB,never fruited for me.
All I can tell you,is that in Itself,The Barnisotte black has no faults, when it come about taste flavor, texture etc.
So if Someone would introduce a healthy one for Sale, then a lot of us will be very very Happy. We also could be dupped,in Buying a worthless fig, under Barnisotte name.
So Now all of you have clare reference picture how it should look, minus the Fig mosaic, leaves deformation.

I did get one cutting of this from UC Davis a couple of years ago and tried to get multiple plants from that cutting. Only one survived for a year, very weak and badly affected by mosaic. It eventually died.

Herman you got mail.

I have one Barnisotte, last season's cutting from UCD. It is also badly infected with FMV. It had one fig that ripened yesterday. It was very tasty under very adverse growing conditions. The plant is so scrawny it looks like a weeping fig. I'm not sure it will survive the winter even in a warm place.
