Bass and his delivered FIG lecture

Hello all,
Just wanted you to know that Bass did an outstanding job yesterday giving his lecture to an estimated audience of 45 people dealing with growing figs in our area. He really gave the people attending the whole story about figs from their origins to present day one could say from soup to nuts. He had a lot of interaction from the audience firing many questions and taking notes. Have to commend him on his performance. The PPS slide show he made up helped out a great deal using the many photos he displayed. I was glad I attended.
Lou

Sorry that I missed that. I live in Penna a little over an hour from Bass. I didn't know that he was giving a lecture.

Thank Lou,
I'm glad you enjoyed the presentation.
I was surprised to see how the interest in figs is growing. especially in our climate.

Bass, If you can send the text and PPS, I can add them to the Figs 4 Fun website. I get may people looking for info spcifice to the east coast.

Bass thats great that you helped inform people of your experience and knowledge .

If I had heard about of it; I would have very seriously considered
attending. It is not that an easy travel trip for me,  but very very do-able.
At minimun, I would have met some of my (NE) 'virtual' fig-friends in person...

Bass, the next time you or anyone has a presentation in Pa, NJ, or NY please let us know, could you post the time and the place on here?  I would have loved to have gone and met some of the people and to have listened to the lecture. That sounds very interesting.  Did you get any video you could publish on teh web? or email personally to people? Ciao

Bass, I agree with the others - I would have tried to attend and meet folks also. I would be interested in seeing the presentation and any tips and recommendations for growing in our region. Hope you can post on F4F or make it available.

Jon, I will try to have the info I covered available online to share with others. It's my fault for not posting about the workshops on the fig forum, however I did posted it in the fruit forum. http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/fruit/msg0216044910458.html

I am a member of Back Yard Fruit Growers which is located in Lancaster, Pa. We've been having multiple workshops and events through out the year.

We have a grafting workshop coming up in march, the summer event is always nice. Couple years ago we had Michael mcKoncky of Edible landscaping as a guest.

In October we have the fruit tasting event, held at an Amish farm. Lots of Apples, Pears, including Persimmon, Kiwi, and I usually take figs and Jujube.

Thanks for the info Bass.

Jon,
I have added an article to my website that is aimed for those who grow figs in cold climate. It's a very basic, but good for beginers.
Every fig grower have different suggestion on how to grow figs. I hope this would be helpful for beginers.
