I received this tree from Frank (FMD) last fall. It went into the ground this spring. It has an open, unsealed eye. The skin is paper thin and peals off quite easily. The tree is prolific and has produced numerous almost tennis ball size figs. Given its size (it is the largest fig I have ever grown), it seems to ripen slower than most. The first few have been watery with little taste but understandable since they been ripening during Tropical Storm Debby and I picked them too early. They did not split during Debby and have not split during rain since but the ants have been enjoying access to the cavity. I am interested to see how they ripen when we get some heat because when I tasted them at Frank's, they were good.
