This fig usually ripens mid September for me... A few days ago I took an olive oil spray and sprayed on a few figs lightly. Two days later they changed color and are getting very large.
So we should spray our figs with oil? Is this the trick to ripen? Just asking!Suzi

Suzi,yes it works. However, naturally ripened figs are known to taste better. I only did it for a couple figs as a test.

I had thought that you only oil the eye? Did you oil the whole thing?

Thanks for the link Martin. Sounds like its not a great idea unless you know frost is 2 weeks away and you want to maximize harvest.
