BECNEL DWARF ITALIAN BLACK

Does anyone know of the dwarf Italian blacks
i picked up two 4 foot tall fig plants
one says italian black
other says dwarf Italian black
have not found any information on dwaf italian black. Thanks richie

Sounds to me like a generic nursery tag.  It will most likely take some time and research to discover the true Cultivar.  Could turn out to be Brown Turkey, could be something amazing!

Good luck with ID proses.

Did they come from Becnel Nursery?  Might be Native Black if from Becnel Plantation

That what they are but one of them hand written on pots says. Dwaf italian black. Then other says italian black. Both have nursery tags on trees themselves that just say italian black. Just wondering why hand written on pot says dwarf?

Richie,
I can't tell from the wording of your posts if the tags/containers actually say Becnel on them or not.  (Or did you actually buy them at the Becnel nursery?)  If they are Becnel Italian Blacks, then those are supposed to be very nice heirloom figs from the state of LA.  Perhaps the one labeled dwarf is from a tree that has been shown to have a tendency for compact growth.  These sound like keepers.
Happy new year,
Jim

Needaclone. I live in Louisiana and bought them in baton Rouge. And talked to forum members that pointed to italian black from becnel.. They both had nursery tags on braches. It was just hand written with a white paint on the pots. Probably bush veriety like you said. Never heard of benel till a picked the guys up. So have not even found a pic of figs or the leaves. Thank you for yalls replies. . Richie
