Been a tough spring so far

Let's see, Glenn was in the hospital twice, in early April and again in early May.  He quit smoking for a few weeks and has started again yesterday AARRGGHHHH!!!!

Luce - the puppy - dislocated her hip and needed FHO surgery, that was on the 8th, Glenn went to the hospital via ambulance on the 7th at night while I was at work.  I am a little worried about Luce - Glenn - well he leaves me speechless by choice, this is a family forum after all LOL.

Figs and the garden - my sanctuary!!!!  The in ground fig tree wasn't doing so well!  Then it rained!!  It's amazing what water could do to trees.  I prepped my raised beds and planted tomatoes, peppers, herbs, okra, and beans - I almost forgot!  I painted an old rickety wooden ladder that would bring me to tears when I climbed on it LOL  I was going to toss it when a friend suggested painting it and using it for a trellis for beans!  Fabulous idea!  I still have a bunch of work to do in it, but it is really starting to shape up.   Figs--- they are still in last years cups :(  They are alive !!!  I will transplant them so they could grow and not die, as for the cuttings in the fridge - between Glenn and Luce - my hopes aren't to high at this point, getting them healthy comes first.

Hope everyone has a great fig season and stays healthy!

Hi Jo-Ann . Been a busy time for you indeed. I hope all goes well with Luce and Glenn.
I do love how you've painted that ladder!! It's beautiful!
Take care of yourself also! :)

Hi Jo-Ann, you have been busy. Life throws a lot of obstacles in front of us, it seems you been doing a good job of dodging them. Keep those reflexes loosened up!
I thought I lost the tree I got from you with this hard winter but it's finally sprouting. Better late than never.

Nice to 'see' you again.  I hope your family's health improves.  Best of luck with all of your plants.

Thanks for all of the well wishes!!  Yeah, it's been a bit frustrating and tiring!  Sometimes I feel like I will just explode!!!  It's funny how we got Luce to keep Glenn company, but she turned into the best companion for me.

Friday we have an appt with a physical therapist! lol  I couldn't believe it!  It's a free consultation after the surgery - they want her to use her leg quickly, but not over use it.  No jumping on or off the bed or couch and no running.  So far that hasn't been a problem, she doesn't know she can jump yet since I never let her.  A few months ago I started letting her sleep on the bed with me - thought I would NEVER do that. It works out better, she doesn't wake me up in the morning:)

Pattee - thank you!!  I haven't done a wedding cake in several years, so it was a nice way to get the creative juices flowing.  If I find another one on the side of the road, maybe I will pick it up and paint it too.

Tonycm - is that from the cuttings of my families tree?? My Mom said theirs took a big hit from this winter, a lot of die back, but there is still some green near the base.  I don't know the detail of how much and where on the tree, but it looks like it will keep going!  I still haven't rooted MY cuttings!

I am determined to up pot my trees this weekend and plant some more stuff I bought over the past couple of weeks, clean up the patio, do something with the leftover bricks I took up from putting the garden in, clean the gutters, ............

Whew!!  I'm tired just thinking about it, maybe I'll nap instead;)
