your welcome frank.. the first year i had tons of them all at once and they got all my figs. (sad face) so i asked around and found this solution.. kill kill kill.... i actually turn the wheel on the sprayer a little up past when it makes bubbles just to make it a little thicker...
i always have a full bottle waiting in the garage i can immediately hook up to my hose.   I don't want them suckers eating any more of my figs...  also you can use the dead beetles for fishing lures.  fish love the bright green backs and strike on them like crazy!!! just soak them in a little water before you put them on the hook.. fish can taste soap.. ha!!
glad to be of service my friend..
happy figging
THEVICSTER SOON TO BE THE FIGSTUR..

My mother in law got dried turkish figs from a store. As she was eating one the spit out that same beetle. It was inside the fig. I always open the fig before eating it.

ACTUALLY THE BEETLE MIGHT HAVE TASTED BETTER THAN THE FIG SHE WAS EATING? LOL...

Bass, I'm never going to comfortably eat dried figs ever again...imagining myself innocently eating dried figs and biting into a beetle is traumatizing...

It is traumatizing indeed. As a kid I remember picking from figs off a tree, I was enjoying these figs so much. They were small honey type figs, and I was there picking for 10-15 mins, and then an old man came out and yelled what are you doing these have worms in them. I opened one up and it was full with worms. Lesson learned, I don't eat a fig without first opening it up, not just to check for insects but to look at at its beauty.

We have the fluorescent  green  ones here in Arizona.

These critters grow from large white/translucent looking grubs  about an inch long.  They look like a little "C" or crescent, as they are semi curled.  Also, they have little legs, but don't seem to move around much.

I have found them in my compost piles, planting beds, living under trees where I have amended heavily, and a couple months ago, when I repotted a small first year tree that was doing poorly.  I had five cuttings that I had potted earlier in the year.  Four were doing very well, but this one was just not growing much at all. It wasn't growing much because these grubs eat mostly rotting vegetable matter (compost), but will also eat live roots. I found four or five of them when I repotted it.  Nasty looking little buggers.

Thank you so much for the Palmolive soap spray information.  I will most certainly be doing that in the Spring.

YOUR CERTAINLY WELCOMED FOR THE HELP.. THAT'S WHAT WE'RE ALL HERE FOR!!  LIKE I SAID, WHEN I SAW OVER 100 REALLY BRIGHT JAPANESE BEETLES LITERALLY COVER MY ENTIRE FIG CROP ONE DAY MY HEART JUST SANK TO THE BOTTOM OF MY CHEST!  THE ORIGINAL BLACK MISSION FIG FROM THE OLD DAYS ARE REALLY HARD TO FIND ANYMORE SO WITH MY NEW GAINED KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO COMBAT THEM, I GOT NEW FISHING LURES AND ALL THE LITTLE BUGGERS DIED WITHIN SECONDS OF BEING SPRAYED AND FELL OFF THE FRUIT!!SINCE I GOT THEM ALL, I THINK MOST OF THEM WE'RE GONE FOR GOOD NEVER TO RETURN!!  JUNE BUGS AND JAPANESE BEETLES I HAVE LEARNED ALL COME FROM THE SAME PLACE AND EAT ROOTS IN THE GROUND AND GO DOWN DEEP IN THE COLD SOIL DURING THE FIRST COLD SNAP.. THEY ACTUALLY START COMING UP FROM DEEP DOWN WHEN IT STARTS GETTING WARMER UNTIL THEY HIT THE SURFACE WHEN THEY ARE COMPLETELY GROWN AND CAN FLY....
GOD BLESS AND MERRY CHRISTMAS...
