Belone and Noire The Caromb is Planted in the Higher see level and Colder Climate.

Dear All ,

Last week I traveled and Visited my friend who lives and grows figs in higher land and Colder Climate In Malang East Java Island .  Geographically Malang lies at an altitude between 440-667 meters above sea level. 112.06 ° - 112.07 ° East longitude and 7.06 ° - 8.02 ° South latitude. with daily average temperature about :21-25 C °.

What was surprising me  some of figs varieties such as , Negrone , Noire De Caromb and Bellone could produce figs fruit more productive  , bigger size and having more elongate shape figs
than mine.

I am living in Jakarta , West java island , The average height of my city is 50 m above sea level  Geographical location is between 1 060 49 '35'' East longitude and 060 10' 37'' south latitude , with daily average temperature about :26-31 C °.

Seems geographical and Climate would effect much for fruit quality and sizing of figs  , If some one also can share about his/her experience of growing figs in the difference location.

Thanks and Hope you all have a great week end.

Salam ,
Zaitun

Good job. I suppose a nicely ripen fresh fig would rival many delicious tropical fruits. I know my brother
gets year round fresh figs and does an excellent job in "wowing" his friends.

Zaitun, thanks for posting beautiful pictures of fresh figs .
Yes, the mysteries of nature need to be resolved.
Obvious reasons one can point to could be the differences in soil, temperature and timely moisture.

Could the high altitude with good temperature range of 21-25 C over a long period of time as well as low pressure help the fruit size? I hope some botanist provide some insight.

It could be lots of things but it also could be that he fertilizes differently than you or the amount of sunlight is different.

Zaitun, the high humidity and the heat in Jakarta can impact production and cause fruit drop as you indicated for some of your varieties. Ken love who lives in Hawaii grows figs and many fruit trees, he harvest figs through out the year and experimented with different ucdavis varieties in higher elevations of the island. I'm sure the cool nights is beneficial in these higher elevations.

@Paully , Thank you .  I sent you a PM a week ago but have not got any respond yet .   best rgrds.

@Otawan & RC & Bass , Thanks for your valuable information ,
