Some friends from work just returned from visiting family in North Carolina.   They told me a story about how they were hanging out in the back yard and there was music coming from the trees.   They asked....   Hey Billy (making that name up as I have not idea what their cousins name was), why you got "Steely Dan" music comin from yer trees?   Reply......  To keep the birds from eatin my pecans of course!  He said it works.  Now I'm thinking to myself, that should work with figs too!

Anyone ever tried that?

My experience has always been that animals and birds enjoy music. My parrots used to dance whenever any song they liked was played. I had a llama that loved John Prine's music. It may be possible that some music is considered bad and keeps certain critters at bay. Be an interesting thing to try.

I couldn't tell you about the musical taste of the critters in your area as I don't know if the critter's taste is reflected in their geographic location. Maybe country critters like country music. . . ? Maybe not.

Yes this could be a dilema.   I've never been a Steely Dan fan.  And all that has to happen is for the radio station to play one Justin Bieber song and your screwed!  

He might also cause your figs to turn sour. Sounds like too big a risk.

Play rap music, if you want to call it music. Spittin in a microphone and mumbling something. That would scare anything away including neighbors who want to steal your figs.

I'm afraid if I played rap down here my neighbors would shoot the radio in about 2 minutes. Of course they'd do the same with heavy metal. J Bieber music would probably case the bark to separate from the trees so by the time the neighbors got here with their guns the radio'd have fallen to the ground with all the bark. Then the neighbors'd be pissed and I've been told squirrels can be very vindictive so things would be tense and hostile and someone would probably expect to get figs out of the situation.
