Best caprifigs for seed production and best for good tasting fruit?

Hi Francisco
I have a few different caprifigs around that I try to assess and will use all types for caprification.
Due to active Silba adipata -Fig Black fly -  I have to protect all caprifig crops by large organza bags during all 3 fruit seasons.

This year for the first time I will collect the caprifig profichi syconium from its
organza bags and transfer into the female types organza bags.

It is too late to do with Brebas as these are too large.

I will always keep extra caprifig fruits to continue to the next mammoni crop

Ariel, that is a major task.
wish you good luck!
A word of caution...
Bear in mind that there are a few hundred wasps inside a mature Profichi ..say from a couple hundred to almost a thousand in the larger fruit.  Once isolated and inside the orgz bags together with the caducous types, without the natural  trimming 'agents' to relieve that much wasp pressure - spiders and their webs, jumpers, ants, etc..-  this could  result in excessive and damaging pollination.

Francisco

Dear Francisco
I am aware of over pollination
I am hobyst and will try various experiments in order to do better next year/
In past years I lost all breba crops even on San Pedro types because of the Fig Fly - which is a curse.
I got my organza bags too late and instead of covering tiny brevas on 1st February as my personal role - I did it too late in mid late March this year.
The brevas are droping in the organza bags. First the larva jums out to the bag's bottom where I kill it and then I see the pale yellow fig fruit with 2-3 holes and take it out for a check under my binocular.

The problem is to defend the profichi crop which the Fig fly attacks also- and I already covered quite a few branches with profichi and an old mamme fruit

If any one has any persistant Caprifig cuttings they would be willing to share please send me a message.

Just purchased these.    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Male-Caprifig-Cuttings-Cuervo-Oscuro-4-FOUR-CUTTINGS-/252871365649?&_trksid=p2056016.m2516.l5255

I don't think the author of this thread will sell any cuttings but, nevertheless, it's a great idea and project.
