Best fgs for your state

It would be helpful to develop a database of fig varieties that do well in each state. Unfortuantely, I am stuck in San Diego. ;-)) So I am soliciting members of the forum to post their location, general weather characterisitics, esp. temps and humidity during ripening time, what varieties do well for you, and which ones are unsuitable. Hopefully this can be incorporated into the FAQ eventually.

I believe it will help many if temperature hardiness Zones for the respective growing locations are included in the 'general weather characteristics'.

Jon, I think your idea is a great one.  I hope you can add the temperature hardness zones to your fig variety list.

Jon, I started a Google map for members of a Yahoo group I'm a member of since some of my friends there really liked the map I showed them at the banana forum.  This doesn't work as slick, but it's still pretty nice.  It would be easy for members to list the cultiars along with their names.  Some folks on the Yahoo group had troubles so they just e-mailed me their address and I posted their location and info.

Does anybody else have any interest in a map to show the location of the fig forum members?  If so, I can start one up if Jon gives the go-ahead.

Jon, send me a direct e-mail if you're interested.

Good Idea, Harvey.

Let us know how the idea progresses.

I think it would be great to add what figs require caprification.
