Best short-season varieties...

...for container-culture here in zone 5 Maine.   Your recommendations, please.
I'm pretty new to figs, but have a couple varieties (MBVS, BT)  thanks to a trade and a generous forum member.   Taking some cuttings and nurturing it into rooting, and now watching then grow some leaves was rewarding- can't wait for fruit!   Now I'm wondering if anyone would care to share their experiences with varieties well suited to my growing conditions and future plan.   I'd like to add at least another couple cultivars to my nascent fig collection.   Thanks!

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
You could try "Desert King" and "Brunswick".
How long is your tomato growing season ?

Some of many that have done well for me here in zone 5 New Hampshire are :
Ronde de Bordeaux
Marseilles Black VS
Black Bethlehem
Salem Dark
LSU Tiger
O'Rourke
Atreano
Malta Black
Takoma Violet
Gino's Black
Hardy Chicago
Florea
JH Adriatic
Of this list the overall best for taste , production , hardiness ,and earliness so far to me is RDB.
But I wouldn't want to be without any of them.

Kerry,

How different are the Takoma Violet and Gino’s Black for you?
Do they look/taste the same or with your eyes closed you could tell the difference?

Florea seems to ripen first here, even after dying to the ground. If we have a long enough season I've gotten 2 main crops off an in-ground tree. Tacoma Violet seems to be really fast to set figs as well, so I'll be keeping my eye on it. I believe Herman mentioned JH Adriatic and Tacoma Violet as having a nice breba crop too.
