Best Treatment for

mold on cuttings that are in baggies or  clear cups? I searched and read but just want to make sure
there is not really any treatment other than more fresh air circulation.

so far, there are few options. i tried clorox wipe and it seems to work great. other's suggest physan 20. i used to dip them in bleach solution, but sometimes that works and sometimes not. best thing that i know will work is leaving out in the sun, if temp is right, and it's ready for outside.

I use Physan 20.  One bottle lasts a long time.  It's a concentrated antifungicide.  I mix a little in a plastic cup, and save it for the first sight of mold.  Once I warned JD not to drink what was in that cup because it's poison, so now he fears using ANY empty glass on the kitchen counter!!  Hehehehe!

Search the forum for a thread titled Mold.  That's a recent thread with lots of answers.

physan 20 is available from amazon. i got a bottle.. but i don't really like to use things that i haven't used before.. have that super thrive too.. for some reason i feel like i'm eating everything i put on them. i know i had enough bleach sanitizing bottles for beer to know i'm not gonna die from it :)

Besides the physan, less moisture if that's an issue.

Pete,

I tried the sun technique on a Green Ischia cutting, next day mold was back.  Tried a bigger hammer......bleach solution applied by Q-tip.  Will see how it works.

once you wash the mold off, you have to start a new bedding in another zip lock bag... as thos tiny spores  just grow  keep the cutting on the dry side for a day or so...

steve,

hmm.. usually for me, sun and fresh air do the trick. towards the end of spring, i'm usually in rush to put all my cuttings in cup outdoor. some that're starting to mold will be taken care of that way. if sun's UV doesn't take care of it along with fresh air..  not sure what will. physan 20 maybe?

Honey is a natral fungicide. Unpasturized is anyway. You mught have some around. Once you clean cutting lightly brush some honey on for a shield of protection. Now it might draw in ants. But it won't mold.

I like the sound of honey. I will definetly try that in some way, maybe on the exposed stump of one in a cup.
The dead/cut portion above the internode seems to be a great place for a mold party(once in the cup), although..so far it seems to be innocuous to the rest of the cutting. I still don't like that mold hanging out up there, taunting me. My latest attempt to thwart the mold pary on the cut end has been to trim a few millimeters off the cut ends and dip in low melt wax as soon as my cuttings arrive. We'll see how that goes.

Honey works great. i use it on cuttings in areoponics and it does wonders for preventing mold and and other fungus issues. but i can only speak for the unpasturized
