Best way to keep cuttings?

I know I can take cuttings in the fall, wrap them in plastic wrap, and/or ziplock bag and throw them in the crisper. Here is my question. What is the BEST way to keep them viable? I was thinking of waxing both ends and using a food vacuum. I'd like to take cuttings in Nov-Dec and not start them till April. I do not have the indoor or heated space to deal with them much earlier than that. Anyone have a better idea? I am prob talking 10-20 cuttings each of 15-20 varieties. (Not my trees and would have to take them when available at the end of the season before owner wraps the trees)

I seem to have caught the bug as I just started collecting in march and am up to 80 varieties. Just had my first air layer success after just a month of rooting time. I would never want to propigate my own figs any other way.

I've never done it but as long as the cuttings aren't super dry it should be fine.

if you deep both cut and tip ends in melted paraffin the cuttings will last months in a ziplock bags in the fridge.
