Bethlehem Black

First one of these and I really like this fig. Not a large fig, size about the same
as a Celeste. Sweet but not to sweet, jammy berry with no crunch. At 8.5 it is
definitely a keeper. This is a real good candidate for in ground.

looks delicious

Definitely sounds like a keeper to me.

goss

Mike ,
This one does very well for me up here in NH and is one of my favorites.
Here it has sweetness, and a rich and complex mix of flavors that linger on the taste buds.
Productive as well.

Kerry, I like your description better than mine. lol

Good to hear all the good things about this fig and it all so looks good.

I'm really glad that Bass found this one and made it available.

Mike , I thought your description was better.

Kerry,  If I remember correctly, isn't this grown in ground in PA without protection?

Mike, nice looking fig.
Have mine in ground, but no Figs this year, hopefully next year I have some...
Mark

Mark, do you protect yours? If so, how?

Mike , I believe you are correct , I think it survives in Bethlehem , PA with no protection.
Maybe Bass will weigh in if that is not right.

Thanks for posting this Mike. I haven't heard much about this one in awhile and looking forward to fruit on mine soon!

Tyler

Mike,

I can see this fig being part of peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Looks great.

Glad you like it 1 of my neighbors liked it more than i did and gave it to him but killed it out of neglect.

LOL @ Rafed

Rafed that fig would be the jelly in your PB&J

Glad you liked it, it has a good flavor and sweetness. The tree is never covered and produces a good crop every year. However it is planted against a wall in town which provides the added protection in winter. The original owner is Greek, and the neighborhood is Greek and theres a big possibilities the fig came from Greece.

Bass, thanks for that information. It should do well here in ground.

I may have to try a peanutbutter and fig sandwich and if I do this would be an excellent candidate. Good looking fig!
