Beware! GreenFin No Figs Fake refund Scam!

Anyone get a refund as yet from this James person yet? No?
Me neither.
He sent me an email seeming to be refunding me my money turns out he is using a scam tactic to scam more money from me.
He sent me a Western Union check for $201 but only owed me $51.
I contacted him about the "mistake" and he writes me back telling me this...

"The $201 was a mistake, I meant to send you a check for $51. The person who was supposed to receive $201 only received a $51 check.

I can't let you keep the extra $150 that you received, I need it to pay the other person his refund. Here's an easy solution: I can email you an invoice for $150 and you can pay it online with a credit card (you would cash the $201 check and keep that money). That way you would have your $51, and I would get my $150 back to send to the other person. Would that work for you?

This my dear fig lovers is a scam tactic.

Someone from the Offer up app. tried this last year with my husband and he looked googled the situation and we read about all this identical scam tactic.

Do not send anyone money who sent you the wrong amount!

Let them send you a Paypal payment.

As many people as James has ripped off keep the extra $150 screw him make him go broke. He probably needs that extra $150 to pay the owner of this forum his cut

Bought some plants w/ my credit card. When I called them they put together a dispute and it was resolved pretty easy. If you bought with a CC then I would go straight to them and not mess around with the seller or PayPal.

He just keeps messing up. Don’t see how he can profit off this but keep the money 💰.

That's the rub. There is no money to be gotten from a shady check!

You deposit it at your bank they will clear it then a little while later will contact you reversing their payment from your account upon their finding out that the check could not clear due to lack of funds on the false check.

Meanwhile you're out the real money (the difference between what they owed you and the "overpay" amount that the false check was written for) that you sent to the scammer.

So, you ultimately aquire insult to compliment your healthy serving of injury.

On an up note, this year was an excellent harvest year for us in MD.

For that I am grateful.

If more than 6 months passed the credit card company will not reverse the charge. I tried that and that's what they told me.

Thanks for sharing! That really is some shady shit. Was he banned from PayPal or something? Is that why he refrains from using it?? If that's true = red flag for sure!

I've been waiting for over a year for cuttings or a $110 refund. All he sends is emails and more B.S. I'm about ready to pay this ass a visit and beat the snot out of him. Anyone else want to join me?

Sounds like a simple mistake to me. I know a lot Of people are furious with him for taking far longer to deliver orders than he promised upon purchase, thinking he had ripped them off, but we all know how hard it is to accurately anticipate how fast varieties will grow, and it seems he really screwed up with his timeline, and dealt with a lot growing his fig propagation business, but had no ill intentions. He is currently getting completely caught up with his outstanding cuttings orders, and shipping out orders. I just received mine, and not only did I get the cuttings I paid for, but he generously sent extras of each variety. I am one of the people who almost gave up on my orders, but he truly delivered WAY more than I paid for as a way of making up for the late delivery.

Wow you got your order? That's good news. I'm glad for you. It may be simple mistakes or whatever but a few posts on a few fig forums would have helped to ease the concerns of those of us who had waited way past their deadlines.
In either case, I'm really glad that you got your stuff. Thats cool. I like when things work out.
Hopefully the rest of us who haven't gotten figs or refunds will be helped soon.

Really just stop the vitriol about Jon. You have absolutely no #$#& idea what is going on behind the scenes. A couple of AH like you are the reason the main site is shut down and I don't blame them. EVERYONE knows the guy is a ripoff artist, so enough. Let it go.
