Big fig needs a name

I found a large tree loaded with big figs spilling over a fence in my neighborhood earlier this week and decided that I should return to trim a branch or two as a community service for the sake of well groomed landscaping. Getting there late today to perform this good deed my heart sank. Someone had already given a 3 foot deep all around buzz cut to this gorgeous tree and all I could do was trim a couple of puny stems. The fruit (in reach) wasn't ripe but pinkish red inside. Any idea what variety this could be?

Hi,
2 cents on BM ! Not that one, but the other one ... You know ... Black Mission.

Socal is famous for black mission. I dont yet have this one but hears its really good easy growing fig tree

cjccmc,
maybe you got your Wishlist fulfilled?
Looks like a great strain of Vista.
With figs I could always be wrong :/

Vista has vdb type leaves. I would say it's a mission but need more photos

~i always assumed mission figs were small i have never ever seen a mission fig three inches long,i have bought a lot of them in the store every one about -1- to 1-1/4" long~ this is my chime don't want to argue though i really don't know,i was going to guess magnolia ,but again i am not to be taken seriously ~but have seen magnolias this big ~

I'm planning a trip back to that location this week to hopefully find a ripe one to taste. May need telescoping rubber arms to succeed :-)

Thanks for showing us such a nice black   and big fig
Believe it to be in this family of figs,  already  with so many names
Apparently,  long long time ago,   Eisen said it could grow up to 4 inch in length
