Bills figs

Does anyone know how much Bill charges for a fig tree?  Do you have to buy it in his potting system?

Bill charges around $35 or $40 for his trees which are well established. He won't sell yearlings they must be at least 2 years old and big and strong. No you don't have to buy his pot system. That is a very large pot and very expensive. People that have used his system do like it very much, but not practical for the amount of trees most of us have.

The last tree I got from Bill was two years ago and it was $35.00. And no you dont have to buy the system.. If you buy from Bill you get an invitation to fig fest a celebration of the fig held at harvest time. Different varieties and served different ways... Fig bread fig and cheese all different fig recipes...\

That doesn't sound too bad at all. Plus the invite to fig fest sounds like a nice plus.

Yes I forgot about that. I attended his Figfest last fall and it was really fun. All kinds of fig related food including, fig pizza and yes fig ice cream. He also had a barbershop quartet which I was thinking might be a little lame, but they were very good and everyone loved them. Also an opportunity to see his figs growing all over his property. And he discounted his sales stock for the event.

No pictures BLB or it did not happen.   ; )

I actually did take afew pics of some of the food anyway. Don't know why I didn't get around to posting them. I will if I go again this year.

I just got back from Bill's Figs. His trees for sale are pretty beautiful and I came home with a Neri 2.

That being said, he was kind of a used car salesman when it came to his potting system and he frowns heavily on people trying to plant in-ground.  All in all not a bad place to buy at all and now I paid the entrance fee to his fig fests

LOL, I guess sales are slumping for the pots. His trees are very nice though

35 for that fig is a fair deal.  the pots at 60 or 75 or whatever...not so much.

When I get my private jet I'm going to buy some figs from him and attend his fest.

Are the figs started from air layering, small cuttings or another propagation technique?

I didnt think that 32 dollars all in including tax is terrible for a really well rooted fig.

It looked like to me that he roots cuttings in the fall directly sowed in a pot.  Also, if you think about it, if you buy one fig tree, you are invited forever to his fig fest. You get to eat all of his figs and listen to some music.  If you go a few times, the fig tree will pay for itself.
I wasnt really hot on buying a fig, but the fig fest threw me over the top.

That's a fair deal. He doesn't sell them until they are older. He does have some gems there too like atreano, battaglia green, and vdb.
