Black Friday Fat and Rooted !

A piece of my tree, i will be using it in my hedge.  I put in a plastic bottle, without bottom inside of a pot,  the bottle was for me to inspect root growth.  I put the whole thing in a garbage bag inside the cabinet over the heat vent -  a week later, I inspect to see and could not believe my eyes.... the roots were all over, so I removed the bottle (breaking many roots) and potted without the bottle.... I guess it made it.  this trunk is about 2.5" diameter .

Grasa,

You have a very GREEN thumb.

Speaking of green - what is the green on the trunk?

That in encouraging!!  2 1/2" trunk!!  You are the FIG DIVA!!

JoAnn, i think the green is dried moss, I had done an airlayer above this trunk, and planted that in a big  pot, but decided to cut the trunk a bit more. This is the result. I like it.. it is all new to me!  very rewarding to see the roots growing.

Grasa,
When you say "working on my figs" your not kidding. Some of the most interesting experiments I've seen in a long time.......and you get results.  Keep up the great work.
                                                       Regards,

I love all your pictorial tutorials of your experiments.  You seem to have the fig tree test kitchen at your house!  Thanks for sharing!  Most of us fear those huge cuttings, but you fear nothing!  Great attitude, Grasa!

Suzi

Wow!  Great job!

I almost never get roots that fast and I use a heat mat.  What are you doing that I'm not?  You need to host seminars.

Grasa,
Great job, thanks for posting. What is the temperature of the rooting cabinet? I usually maintain 75-80 Deg. F. and have gotten good results, But your results are better.
Please keep us posted.

Pete, I don't know what the temp is... I will find out... my furnace is right under it, so I am sure it gets a blast of cold air too. I have to remove my baking dishes out of there and replace them with fig trays.  Perhaps the large garbage bag over, helps.  I am shocked with these results. Yes. my kitchen is my fig laboratory, and loving it.
