Is this the one from Chios?

Thanks for the picture Marius, good looking fig. Too bad mine went to fig heaven during a rainy period while I was on vacation.

Ed,this is the one from Chios island.Marius

Here are some sprouting cuttings from this Black Greek from Chios from Marius. They have some of the healthiest, prettiest cutting growth I've gotten.

These were started less than a month ago and some (not in photo) are already showing roots at the soil surface. These were started in plant bands directly in 1:1 perlite/potting mix, kept humid, and (once sprouted) under artificial light.  They are shiny because they were just misted.

I'm looking forward to growing this variety - the weather in Chios is relatively similar to ours here on the Pacific coast. Of course the same could be said for many other figs from Mediterranean regions. :)

Great job Gina! You are so lucky living in California. I was actually born there but my parents moved to Jersey when I was very young. I still give them hell about it :)

Great looking fig.  I can't wait until mine is old enough to produce.

Thanks. :)

I was lucky - my folks traveled the other way after I was born. From the midwest to California, eventually ending up here in what I consider paradise. Except of course for the fires, earthquakes, drought, marine layer/fog, mudslides etc. I do love it here, however. :)

Wow... about 6 months later...... my Black Greek from Marius went from these tiny little plants in the photo to about 3 feet tall and bearing a few fruits. I ate one this evening, and boy was it good. It had an extremely pleasant flavor - a definite keeper. Sorry my palate is not advanced enough with respect to figs to describe it better than 'yummy'.  :)

beautiful looking leaves... you are all teasers. I want it!

Healthy looking trees. I bet those were really good tasting. Hope they give ya a ton of figs!
