Black Madeira: A Love Story

FMD,

I'll toss back a few this weekend for your loss and mine. Mine was two Green Ischias. All looked great and then in a two day period they wilted and have not recovered. One of the GI was sharing a pot and the other is fine looking. I'm new to all this but I guess its normal?

noss,

i heard so much horror stories about BM, i'm already getting pine boxes ready for the lassies. when and if it happens, i'll open up my single malt and blow few tunes for the girls on my pipes.. "flowers in forrest" should go nicely.. or if i feel really down, i'll play "amazing grease.." i mean.. "amazing grace".

Marius,

Thanks for the offer but I did get some replacements.
I will reserve that offer for another variant on a different day.

Once again,

Thank you

I can almost hear the Scottish accent. Wish I could talk  like that. I've got Scottish blood but all my Scottish relatives are long gone

i don't get much chance to talk to people from scotland. i know only one person who is from scotland. i do speak to few people in scotland due to my work. honest truth is, i'm really bad at understanding what they are saying. it's not like listening to all those folks in movies and what not. it's almost like when i first moved down to NC from NYC. i was listening to someone keep saying "bacon soda". i was like.. "do you guys really make soda out of bacon?". found out they were talking about "baking soda". i heard there really is bacon soda now days with all the craze over bacon.

You can't scare me!  I have no fear of this fig, and I have it on order from UC DAVIS.  I guarantee, I'll use the old Greek's method of the horizontal lay in warm ground covered with one inch of loose top soil, and the fig will grow!  Bring it, Black Madeira!
Suzi

suzi,

I don't think it is hard to root. but from what I have heard is that it's hard to grow and to keep it alive. I'll find it out soon. I'm planning to start pumping fertilizer and lime as soon as it goes into 1 gal pot.
