Black Madeira and Col de Dame

Some cultivars took me several years to obtain. I kept searching and searching till I found them. Still am looking for some. Some I paid top dollar for and some were given to me.

I'm not condemning or condoning the comments made here. They are all good comments and opinions. Depending on how we look at them. But let's not forget we all were newbies at one point or another.

Some of us have the financial means to bid the high prices on ebay to get that special fig and some of us are living off fixed income.

I don't know what Dons financial situation is and don't need to know, it's not my business.
But I take under consideration that he is a newbie and simply didn't know. Reading his post, I believe to a certain extent, he was misinformed. Or maybe he was just as excited as everyone else for their release and did not fully understand the wording? Perhaps he thought he has priority because of his support of the Foundation? Perhaps he could have worded it a little different? Don't know.

The bottom line is I believe it was all a misunderstanding on Dons part. And perhaps some of us are taking Dons wording out of context?

Sometimes we just need to read between the lines my dear friends.

My 2 cents,,, and happy figging.

Well put, Rafed.  As you become more involved with a forum, you create relationships and come to care for others.  I haven't been here for a long time, but I do know Jon is helping the fig community tremendously and I respect however he decides to deal with his figs.  I'd like to give Don the benefit of the doubt and assume he meant better than he wrote.

Thanks for all the comments, and I believe all are right.

Rafed said it best.  I would go a step further, I am excited, I am being impatient and not fully counting my blessings.  I naively looked at this foundation in a misconstrued way.  I don't feel anyone owes me anything.

I think John is a genius.

He took something he loved, attracted attention to it with a fabulous and creative form of advertisement and he genuinely helps others at the same time.  Win Win.

I didn't see the foundation as this at first.  I saw it more as a collective thing, which it has also become via it's members exchanging ideas and experiences.

But it is definitely both.

Now that I see it clearly, I can move forward and embrace the collective part fully.  What can I say, it is that, that drew me to join, trading, talking about things we all love, and enriching the hobby overall.

Thanks you fellow fignuts, and especially John!
