Black Madeira available

I have 6 2-gallon air-layers in the greenhouse. They will stay there till Spring. If you are interested in one, e-mail me. $50 including shipping. $35 Ag fee additional if it applies to your state.

They are all taken, but thought a report was in order. They are looking good, and most are putting out new growth. They took longer to air layer than other things I did last season, seemingly in line with their slow rooting as cuttings. But they all did well and are healthy, and extending their adjustment time in the green house seems to have been a plus. Will definitely do more this year.

You don't have any more?:( Ggggggggg Im late :( :(

"They are all taken..."  ;-((

OH!

That very good-looking/tasting late-ripening fig and a night-mare to re-produce
(root & grow)....

I have a BM for 2 seasons and it grew probably 8". Real slow grower. I hope by changing the potting mix in early
spring  to composted(fish) soil will give it a boost. I heard  the Preto variant is a high quality one and it is almost
similar to BM. My Preto grew well and is bigger than my BM from a cutting started last May.

The BM needs fertilizer. My in-ground plant grew about 2" a year until I fertilized it at about 1# of 16-16-16 every other week for an entire season. That shock has paid benefits for years, and it grows 8-10' per year now.

Do they grow slowly because they have FMV, or are they just slow?

I think someone said to push the fertilizer to trees with FMV to strengthen them and help them combat the virus.

It looks like my little Black Madeira has FMV, but in spite of that, It decided to start sprouting out and it's grown 2 1/2" in about two weeks, I think.  It lost half its roots in transit and I saw that when I repotted it and I was thinking it might go into shock, but instead, when it was put into its slightly larger pot, it took off growing some more.  It has mis-shapen leaves, at least the first two are.  The third looks all right.  I have it in Fafard Professional Potting Mix.  No fertilizer is in that mix.  I hope it will continue to do well.

I also repotted a little Sicilian Black tree at the same time and after it was in the slightly larger pot, it decided to sprout its tip bud, too.

The trees are inside the house due to the cold temps we've been having.

Thanks,

noss

It looks like I may have one left, if someone is interested.  $50 including shipping, plus $35 ag fee is you live in the wrong state.

If you e-mailed me before, and they were all taken, send me a copy of your e-mail and I will give it priority, though I think I have contacted everyone who inquired.

Martin,

I just haven't had time to work on a newer availability list - to busy making more plants. That sounds like it is only making the cataloging that more difficult, doesn't it. Is has been a good rooting season, so far, and plants from the end of last season are growing like weeds.

Thats good Jon, glad things are going well in that department.
Bet your weather is decent now in Paradise or on its way.
Here its 34 out now but will get to balmy 48.
