Alot of members want to buy,Black madeira fig tree or cuttings,or have them on their wish list. Ebay is starting to explode with everyone selling the Black madeira fig tree or cuttings. Being a newbie, I really need some advise as to what or whom to buy from for the best quality Black Madeir fig tree possible. After being burned on eBay before and the different types of Black madeira fig tree (UCD OR KK and alike) and also from reliable sellers. I want to make sure that I don't get burned again. I wonder if he really has Jon's BM (KK) cause his looks to be much more FMV effected. In summer, in full sun my 15 year old's leaves look like this.

 

Also he thinks Jon's is from UCDavis. When I originally received this from Jon he told me it WAS NOT from UCDavis

Obviously don't get anything grown from seed. Do a quick search for "KK vs UCD" for a good discussion. Many members prefer the KK stock (originally sourced from Jon at Encanto farms). When you look at the eBay prices you'll notice those ones are priced much higher than the others. Though some growers say that the UCD stock performs just fine.

One prevailing explanation is that certain stock are more afflicted by the Fig Mosaic Virus. This could explain why the UCD stock sometimes grows well and sometimes grows slowly despite all being genetically identical clones.

Personally I chose to pay a little extra for the KK stock and I'm happy with it.

I only shop known and trusted sellers with forum identities. Ebay is rampant with fraud although not every seller on ebay is a fraudster. If they sell but are not on the forums, I don't buy and if they are on the forums but don't have a trusted seller reputation, I don't buy. Mistakes happen but trusted forum sellers back their sales and correct their mistakes when they become evident... KK is one of the best and most trusted...

Wow, KK. That 15 years old BM fig tree looks awesome. It is a bit small though.

Is there a trusted sellers list like ourfigs.com has?

I am new to figs. I too am worried with all the Black Madeira listings on ebay. I almost bought one of those BM seedlings, not understanding the description. 

Stay safe, order from Jon or Harvey, or wait for forum member offers come November. Ebay is way overpriced anyway. You have a lot of options in US.
