Black Madeira ripening inside house

Hi I just noticed last couple days that my black madeira i got from kk few months ago is starting to swell up considerably and color is darkening slightly. I'm surprised since its been very cold outside all week with arctic blast in philadelphia. img20150109_192550 (1).jpg

Looks like a very healthy fig tree, congratulations. I thought that Black Madiera is a slow grower...???

I got it as a tree at start of fall not as cutting. Hopefully i get to taste this fig.

Very nice K. I hope you get to try it ! Let us know how it tastes!

Nice plant and buying from KK is the way to go. Please let us know what happens.
I've never seen a fig that could ripen correctly indoors and in Philly in the winter

Very nice. I have two cuttings just beginning to show a little growth. Yours are Very heathy. Would love it if you could show a pic of the way the leaves look like . ? Thanks and very nic job. Richie

The more light and heat you give it the better it will taste.  Now is the time.  If you can get the temp around the fig up over 80 it'll taste a lot better than if you don't.

I have been very happy lately waiting for the trees to wake up from dormancy. I looked at my Black Madiera and this is the year its going to produce my first crop, Thank you Jesus. Its going to be moved up front and getting the most sun to ensure of this.

wow, really nice!

Very nice.  Get some light on that tree.

Even though it's an exciting development, I'm suprised that no one is saying: "PINCH THESE FIGS OFF!" Especially with a delicate tree like Black Madeira. I ignored this advice in my first year, and a lot of those first year figs cost me the tree!

Real nice Kwang, looks great, I hope they taste great.   I have a Sweet a George ripening fruit right now, it's under high intensity LED's and stays around 90 degrees in my make shift ghetto garage greenhouse. The fruit is amazing grown inside, I can't wait for some grown outside.

Keep us updated and keep up the great work.

Scott

Kwang, that's a beautiful plant.  What is your lighting setup since you are in Philadelphia in January?

2 year old black madeira (2nd summer). Ripened them all gradually. Black Madeira 2 yr old.jpg
