Black Madeira success!

Black Madeira (From tmc2009) cutting is coming right along!  I'm more excited about this one cup than any of my other trees.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm cannot wait!

Nice looking Greg. I have a couple and I can't wait either.

Best of luck with that beautiful fig tree.  May you harvest many figs.

right on, have to keep us informed on it.

It looks extremely healthy. Good luck with it.

Really nice growth. its seems to be bursting out with leaves in all directions. I love it when they do that!

Greg, great looking plant and beautiful new growth! All the best to you with this one. Keep us posted.

Good stuff!  Can't wait to see it push some figs!

Verdant. Is that fir bark in your medium?

Congratulations! By all accounts that's a great fig!

From Tom in 2009 Greg ?
Did you just recently root it.

I hope to add that one next cutting season.  Hope it grow great for you.

greg,

there is certain satisfaction in rooting Black Madeira. there are other challenges. such as getting Ischia Black to root and grow well to give figs, and of course my dream of getting Pastiliere to hold on to the figs. congrats :)

Thanks everyone.  I am also growing my other Black Madeira cutting (I purchased 2) as 2-node segments in rock wool.  They also are all shooting leaves right now but I am yet to successfully transfer nodes in rockwool to soil without killing them so trying to not get too excited about them.

Dieseler, from the member here named tmc2009, I just got them a few weeks ago.  According to my grow log they arrived on 1/2.

Good for you Greg!!  It looks fabulous!

wow...its beautiful figs Greg.....

Yeah im still learning how to read.  ; )
TMC2009 thats Tom a nice fella with smooth calming voice that does lots of fig video's, one of his best in my humble opinion was when he had a bat in the house you got to ask him for that link to see what i mean.

Octo, can you just leave the cutting in the rockwool when you transplant? is there a need to remove the rockwool?

Yes definitely.  The problem I had with the lyndhurst white rock wool cubes is that when I put the cubes into soil they just died suddenly.  I wondered if it was just shock.  The most recent time I moved the cube into soil cups then put right back into the same humidity dome to acclimate and that seemed to do the trick.  So I think the issue was just humidity shock.

nice

Update 7/4/14:  Looks like I might get a black one (or more?!) this year.  That bottom fig started darkening just 5 days ago, and now it's all purple and swelling.
