Black Triana

Any know much about black Triana ,I know it's Italian, but can never find it ,and is it called anything else.Look to trade or buy. Thanks

Victor, here is the only site I have seen that variety for sale by a nursery-type establishment:

Joe Morle seems to have a good rep, but I have never bought from there.

If you are willing to wait a year or so, my current 8 inch tall Black Triana might be able to spare some cuttings.  Hopefully someone else here could help before then.

There is some info out there about this tree. I bought one this year from Joe Morle and it is in ground in NC. It's said to be closed eye, and resistant to cracking even with heavy rain when near ripe. Mine is growing quite slow but I only gave it an initial dose of osmocote.

I might be able to get a couple of cuttings this fall/winter. PM me if interested.

By the way, Joe did a real nice job of packaging and shipping. I got 2 trees from him and did not lose a single leaf.

I had a three year old tree but lost it this past winter. I do have
a small back up. The past two years it was a producer of nice
large sweet figs. However, they exploded with to much rain
during the ripening process.

I had bought one from Joe Morle a few years ago. It died to the ground this past winter but is making a come back. It produces a breba and main crop. The breba are large and are sweet with an overall good taste. They ooze honey from the eye which is a plus. None of them split for me. I like them so much that I'm going to keep one in a pot.

The main crop are smaller but still nice size. Depending on your location and the weather, like Mike said, they can explode making for a big let down after waiting all summer to eat them. Provided the main crop doesn't split for you, I think you won't be disappointed.

It's also known as St. Jerome.

Good to know, thx.

A+ on Joe M. in Boston. Other than he being a Red Sox fan, I see no reason for worry!

I have purchased 2 trees from him and they are alive and happy here in Georgia, with strong clusters of figs on them. Great, professional packaging I must say. Arrived in excellent condition.
