Black Triana UPDATE

I had to pick this fig a day or so early due to the heavy rain that was moving  in this morning. It is a very large fig that weighed in at 2.35 oz or 66.7 gr. It was still good but you could tell it was to early. Little figgy and crunchy. Very faint berry flavor but not jammy. Maybe a 7 but has a lot of potential and there are 40-50 more so hopefully we get a better idea about it later.

I picked this one today and it is off the charts good. Very sweet and full of juice. It ran out when cut. It does have a fairly open eye but it was still very good. Maybe an 8.5/9 on this one.

Looks good! I hear this is a keeper.

Bumped for update on original post.

thanks mike. i have one but there's only one fig on it, still green. good to know it can taste good.

Anyone else growing this fig and does it have the big open eye and split? I cant seem to leave it on the tree long enough to get
as ripe as I would like. It splits and then moldy.

I haven't had mine split but they ripened a long time ago before it got really humid.

That explosion looks pretty minor compaired to mine.

Large fig, taste is ordinary & split bad.

Paully, you are right on. I guess the best way to eat this fig is, don't wait for it to get really ripe. It would be good to
use in preserves and jams.

Mike my breba ripened mid August and I thought they were excellent. Very sweet and juicy and none split.
Last year none of the main crop split, but I can't remember if it was dry or rainy at that time. I'm still waiting for this year's main to ripen. My tree is planted in ground so if it rains alot when they're about to get ripe I won't be able to do much about it, just sit back and watch them explode.
