I got to taste the first fig from my Black Weeping tree today. The fig was jet black outside (per the name) and a golden/orange inside. There was no crunch; and the pulp had a marmalade-like quality with a surprising spicy citrus flavor. It was easily one of the best figs I have ever tasted. A true keeper for this region.

I know some have said Black Weeping is the same fig as Sal's Corleone. I find this to be completely inaccurate. Though there may be similarities, they are distinctly unique. I grow both varieties, acquired from trusted sources; and mine are different.

Sorry, no photos. It was eaten immediately. But I will say the fig looked similar to photos I have seen of Wuhan as far as exterior color and shape, only more orange inside. If I had to limit my trees (and I will eventually ... somewhat), I would choose this among my top three (to date).
