That's a nice healthy looking tree Pete. I hope it continues to do well.

thanks gene.. all the other figs i started with BM are all shooting up. BMs are very slow. this one is the fastest one. other two are still hanging in there. another one looks like it's going to put out some leaves soon.

Pete, if you can keep them going, in a couple of years they should pick up speed. My little in-ground (UCD cutting, 2010) is finally starting to grow at a respectable rate, and even has a few tiny figs.

As the weather warms up I think you will see more growth. I'm excited for you!

Using the initials..."BM"...is not a good way to refer to this variety of fig.  Seriously, it reads a bit scatological, and is hilarious!  See reply #3, #4....#6....  Waiting 3 yrs. for BM...try dynamite.

Just some frat-boy humor. Immaturity CAN last a lifetime, so I've been told.

Frank...LMFAO !  F=fat

com'on frank, how many figs do you know has initial BM and grows dirt slow.. and makes collector/owner happy just to see an sign of survival? i know only one of 'em.. Black Madeira.. there are others, but they have different initials :) BI comes to mind..

Frank - I can't stop laughing!!!LOL LOL LOL  I thought the same thing !

Pete, Pete, Pete......

The set-up was perfect....I just couldn't resist.  I had to go for it.

I guess using letter initials is necessary when it comes to varietal names.  It saves time.  We have: BM...VdB... BT... 'Martin's Unknown' MU...etc.

I recently sent wood to LSU for evaluation.  I'm hoping they will soon release my discovery.  A new, unique, variety called ... 'Frank's Unknown'.  Imagine what the postings would be like with those initials.

For example:
"I waited only 6 years for the first figs.  The fruit was dark red inside, and tasted like ripe apricots, raspberries, with a hint of chocolate-pistachio ice cream.  My wife, thank God, loved the taste...she asked me what they were called, and I told her "F-U"....  When I'm released from the hospital, I'm going to place an order for three more trees"...

OK Noss... just for you, I'll use Blk Mad (BM) before using initials. :)

Pete

Oh... rest of the Blk Mad are putting out leaves also. Just broke bud yesterday.
