BOM Fig!

Got this fig from Michal some 5 or 6 yrs ago. It kept dying back to the ground. Had sample it some 3 yrs ago and knew it was a keeper. The taste was good. Could be better if picked 2 days later. No choice but to pick early as wasps have been nailing the figs -- drilling holes into them. According to Michal(Montreal Fig) it is a Greek variety. Michal had share this fig with a few friends. I gave it the name BOM to denote Bank of Montreal as Michal was working for them. The fig came with no name. Thanks to Michal.

Wow, looks fantastic!

nice fig :) we are seeing less insects and birds this yr. i think the rain drove them away. i'm sure lot of ground nesting wasps are all drown or something.

Kaboom!

hehe awesome name

I called this fig ''Westmount Greek ''vine'' fig

However, I would drop the name vine out of it and keep the rest of the name.

Picture of the original tree the samples were taken from.

The description I wrote about this tree on my page says :

I found this fig tree in the Westmount area of Montreal in May 2009. The owner received it in 1994 from a Greek labourer working for his company. Since 1994 he has been keeping the tree in his basement and when spring arrives he moves it outside in the hopes of enjoying the delicious green figs produced by this tree. The tree has the particularity to grow like a ''vine''. However, the reason for growing in such a way might be related to the fact that it starts new growth while it is stored in a dark area of the basement.

Looking back at this, I will say that the owner was not taking properly care of the original tree and I remember him saying that he rarely was able to enjoy anything out of it.

Here is the original post I posted when I was giving it out  http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/free-fig-suckers-in-Canada...-3490522?highlight=michal
