Books About FIGS

Hi there, nice to meet you people in here.

I would like to ask, because i am an amateur fig cultivator, i just started planting some trees, have like 35 trees at the moment, but i have not much knowledge about figs, and at the moment i am being guided all the way.

I would like to ask, if there are any agricultural books that you suggest regarding fig cultivation.

Thankyou,
George

The classic work is Ira Condit's "The Fig" Though it isn't so much about cultivation. http://chla.library.cornell.edu/cgi/t/text/text-idx?c=chla;cc=chla;sid=28cfe61701c1cc4dd90d19d3aa0fdc33;rgn=main;view=text;idno=3116126

There is a book, published by the Jurupa Mountain Cultural Center, by Storey, Enderud, etc. But may well be out of print.

See also, the fig section of Hilgardia. http://www.cnga.org/library/archive/pdfs/BeetleHilgardia1947.pdf

As far as I know, Ira condit's "The Fig" book is only available on-line from Cornell University site.

You can download it in PDF format (26.57 Mb) from here.

I was looking for this all day yesterday. What is this jurupa mountain cultural center. Would they be able to make a copy of this book if contacted? I think their book is the closest to what i need. It talks about culture, biology and other things fig related things.

Thanks for the responses.

I don't see it listed, buit it should be available from http://www.crfg.org - so ask.

Shinobi,
Take a look at this thread:  http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/fig/msg1118152717230.html
(3rd to last entry)

It's still in print.

"The Fig" by Storey and Enderud is still available from Jurupa Mtn Cultural Center for $8.50 plus shipping.

Really? I sent them an email, but didnt get a reply yet. Is there a link to order it directly??

Thanks

I didn't see a link, either, so I inquired to learn if it was out of print. If it had been, I could have possibly posted it on line. But they replied that it is indeed in print, available for $8.50 and that I did not have permission to put it online.

So without a link info how will we be able to order it? Hmm, i guess i will have to call them up and ask.Dont they have a publishers homepage to order it from?

If you follow the link I posted above you'll see both the address and cost which includes postage.
