Hi everyone I have a fig tree which is now about 4" diamiter Give to me as a long sucker 3 years ago It has never produced much and last year was trouble by a " boring bug" of sorts I treated it by spraying in the holes in trunk and branches This year had such a lot of new growth but no figs. I just cut the long trunk to 1 metre from ground and cut out all diseased parts. What is the best way to promote new branches at nodes as there are no leaves? On other trees i had success with notching above nodes. I am in Sub tropics so it will have time time put on growth Thanks
I would use Jon's methed of watering well, the using full strength miracle grow (i use one gallon per tree, half strength for potted figs, full for inground). To success, Lewi
Hi,Just keep it watered and fertilized.if the weather cooperates, the tree should bounce back !
Chopped it down and removed Many branches had holes through centre Didnt want to waste time on it anymore Have many others in containers Thanks
