I've never seen a fig tree branch at every node at the same time.  Hoping for lots of figs from this one!  This is a Preto in a 5 gallon SIP with one trunk.

Pro-Mix BX with Osmocote and a handful of Azomite.  It's my first year using Azomite, so we'll see how everything else responds.

You picked the right fig for this to happen to my luck my good fig will grow like a snail and one i dont particularly care for would grown into a monster. Nice work frank. You got the mad fig skills lol

Was the tip bud damaged or removed after the plant had started growing?

At the end of 2014, the tip had not hardened enough.  New growth stopped just before the tip.  I noticed it was beginning to dry out and was very flexible, so I bent it and it snapped off.  The pic was taken right after I snapped the tip off.  No sap leak, so I'm hoping I didn't rob any energy.

This is on its 3rd year.  The first year was very stagnant, but that was my fault for not up-potting.
Yours looks very strong.  It is one of my fastest growers.

Did you intentionally keep it with one central trunk?  I know now with the tip off it has multiple stems but it seems with one trunk it would be easier to bring inside through doors if necessary.  Very nice looking!

Nice tree but a heart breaking tree for me. Because now, you need to prune it ... Well, the tree is yours and so is the choice to let her grow wild, but that won't
help that tree produce fruits for you.
Now as usually, you have at least two options :
Option 1: Target wood production and less or no ripe fruits : you'd be airlayering all extra-stems at the end of June to have new trees.
Option 2: Target fruit production : In that case remove some branches asap -especially the ones at the base- to let that extra energy get back to fruit production.
In case you go for option 1: You might be badmouthing that tree at the end of the season for having no ripe fruit .
In case you go for option 2: Courage, you can do it !
I just rubbed some young (misplaced) buds and stems on some of mine yesterday ... Figs need tough love to be productive, IMO !

No, it's just what it chose to do.  I bring it in/out through a garage door, so the size isn't of concern at this point.

Thanks for the input, jds.  You make good points.  I will let it be for the next month or so and see if and where it decides to put out figs.  I'm ok with air layering branches.  I have one I just placed in the ground, so it will be an interesting comparison from pot to ground.

My F. Preto seems to be growing the same way, along with Chicago Hardy and Sucrette (UCD). I wish they could teach the other trees to grow the same way as this is how I am planning on training my trees... As a single, vertical cordon with all growth coming off the trunk.

Several of mine are doing this but they all started growing the lowest node first then put out the higher buds until all live buds are growing.  Most of the plants lost the apical bud but not all of them.  I think it's the trace minerals.  Last year I started with Dyna-grow mid season.
