People ask about what breba and main crop figs are, and the differences. This particular picture clearly illustrates the two different crops. The picture is of Vista Black Mission (same as USDA Violette de Bordeaux, after DNA testing). The bottom half of the branch, without leaves, and brown in color is last years growth, with two breba crop figs. The top half of the branch is this years growth, green in color, with leaves, and you can see the main crop figs beginning to form.

This picture doesn't show the difference as clearly as Jon's, but you can (kind of) see the larger breba fig growing from the older, browner wood and the smaller main crop figs growing from the newer, greener wood.  When I took the picture I wasn't trying to show this difference.  I could have gotten a better angle.




 

So your Vista is the same as Violette de Bordeaux. looking at the photos you have, I can see the resemblings.

New to the forum. But I would like to share two pictures of breba figs I just took in my backyard. My daughter ate two of them yesterday.

The first one is from a 6 years old Black Mission and the second one is from a two years old unknown fig tree (obtained a cutting from a friend's fig tree). If anyone can recognize it, please let me know.

I also have a 2 years old Dessert King with about 30 breba figs, but they are still as hard as a stone:(
