Hi all, Apologies if this is question has already been mentioned, but i was not sure. From my reading breba figs are produced on last years wood and they appear below the leaf.So my simple question is will they grow on 2 year old or older wood or is it just last years ?Just trying to get my head around the best way to prune my treesThanks for any feedback.
They grow below the leaves, as in there are no leaves any longer on last year's wood where brebas emerge, but new growth is above where the main crop will form at nodes withe leaves. Only last year's wood will have breba embryos, not older wood.
To be clear, though, the breba will form above the leaf scar from last year's leaves. All the current year leaves will be above the breba fruit. The wood from 2 years ago will not form brebas.
Thanks for the info, and helping me clear it up a little.
Me too. Great question Luke. And thanks for the info guys.
Well said, Jon.
